5 Plugins That Make Social Media Simpler

wp pluginsDo you ever wish social media was just easier? Well, I can’t solve all your social media difficulties. But I can point you toward some plugins that will handle some of your social media tasks for you. I haven’t tried all of these, but they are all highly rated. Check them out and see if there’s one you can use.

Facebook Like Box Widget – You know how bloggers will have a box in their sidebar showing the profile pictures of people who have liked their page on Facebook? This is that plugin.

Facebook Like Button – If all you want is for people to Like you your page on Facebook, this plugin gives you exactly that: a Facebook Like button. No frills, no other social networks. It’s for the Facebook purist in all of us.

Social Networks – If you’re not a Facebook purist and want to share your posts with several different social media sites, check out Social Networks. It auto-posts your blog posts to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more.

Tweetily – Just in case you’re a Twitter purist instead, this plugin posts both new and old posts automatically, giving your Twitter audience a chance to catch up on anything they’ve missed.

Shareaholic – What, you don’t want to do all the work? You want your readers to share your posts? Okay, okay. Check out Shareaholic, the artist formerly known as Sexybookmarks. Not only does it give you some distinctive share buttons to all the major social media networks, but it also has a recommended post feature that can help your readers find more to read on your site.

A good point that was brought up in the comments – you don’t need ALL of these plugins on your site. Some of them duplicate what others do, and they can conflict with each other.

Do you have any social media plugins that you recommend? Have you tried any of the ones I mentioned? Let me know in the comments, and be sure to use the buttons on the right sidebar so we can connect on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

  1. Nice collection of plugins, Katie!
When I spoke at a Social Media Event, I included several of these plugins as well. The only thing I would add to your post is to keep in mind that you should not install ALL 5 of these plugins on one site.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I’ve tried a number of different plugins for sharing but I find that posting manually really gets me the best interaction.

    • That’s a good point, Ellen. I do some of both. Automation does help when I schedule posts ahead of time and then can’t get to the computer to share them when they go live.

  3. Nice choice of plugins, I need to take a closer look at some of them :) They might make my life even easier! Thank you for taking the time to share them!

  4. A lovely list of plugins – and you’re right, don’t put them all on at once! I keep swapping and changing my social plugins while I try things out, but Sexy Bookmarks (Shareaholic) is a common one I install on peoples sites.

    • I keep experimenting with different social plugins, too. Someday I will find one that does everything I want it to do. Shareaholic comes pretty close, and it has a distinctive look that attracts attention.

  5. always worth considering a better way, I am considering shareaholic, because it was recommended, but I am not sure if the style would suit my site, I will look int it some more in any case. Thanks for your post ! :)

  6. Thanks for the list! I love to see what plugins others use and recommend. I’m still working on finding the right mix for my blog, which is a never-ending work-in-progress.
